Higher Thinking Skills Through IT Based Project

IT Based Projects effectively help our student to engage in activities of a higher plane of thinking.

There are four types of IT-Based Projects.They are as follows:

1. Resource-based Projects

_- > the teacher here steps out the traditional role of being an content expert and information provider and instead let the students find their own facts and information. So the aspect of Constructivism is being adopted.

2. Simple Creation

_- > in here, the students are assigned to develop their own software and it will require their creativity in creating it.


_ - > CREATIVITY said to be combined three kinds of skills or abilities:

·                     Analyzing - distinguishing similarities and differences

·                     Synthesizing - making spontaneous connections among ideas thus generating interesting or new ideas.

·                     Promoting - selling of new ideas

To develop creativity, the following five key tasks may be developed:


 1. Define the task- clarify the goal of the completed project to the students.
 2. Brainstorm- the students generate their own ideas on the project, there is an idea exchange among the                                 students and teacher.
 3. Judge the ideas- the students themselves make an appraisal for or against any idea.Only when students   are completely off track should the teacher intervene.
 4.Act- the students do their work with a teacher only a facilitator.
 5. Adopt flexibility- The students should be allowed to shift gears and not follow an action path rigidly.

STUDENTS CANNOT PRODUCED A VERY GOOD PROJECT IF THEY WILL NOT USE THEIR CREATIVITY, THAT'S WHY IT IS A NEED FOR US TO DEVELOP IT. 

3. Guided-Hypermedia Projects

_- >  production of self-made multimedia projects. There are two different ways:

a) as an instructive tool, by production of power-point presentation of students on a selected topic.

b) as a communication tool, when the students do a multimedia presentation.

4. Web-based Project

_- > students are asked to make a web page and post a selected topic.


This IT Based Project will be a great help for a teacher in order for her to engage her students to higher thinking and creative skills. Moreover, as an answer to the modernization it is a must to us teachers to integrate technology in our teaching.
